10 Reasons to Elope at The Barn

Our spring season has been full of elopements, and I can’t wait to share them all with you! One of the most popular topics readers of The Barn Blog ask me about is our elopement collection. I think a lot of our couples and readers are torn on whether or not eloping is a good idea, and even if they truly want to elope, they have a "real" wedding and reception instead. Eloping is definitely not for everyone, but there are a few reasons you may want to consider eloping! Many people think elopements are only for pregnant brides or couples that have been in previous marriages. That is so not the case, y'all! Elopements are romantic, intimate, and at The Barn, they are just as stunning and amazing as other weddings! Here are 10 reasons why you might want to consider eloping.

1. You want a beautiful wedding, but without having to plan anything yourself. With elopements, we ask our couples to give us an overall color palette and theme that they love, and then we get creative and come up with a unique, beautiful masterpiece! Elopements are even less hands-on for our couples than our weddings... Which is pretty crazy, because even our most over-the-top weddings require very little effort from the bride and groom! If you want to do literally NO work in coming up with decor ideas, an elopement may be for you! You can literally show up in your dress, marry your love, take a bunch of photos, cut the cake and GO!

2. You want gorgeous wedding photos, but without everything that goes along with a big wedding. Some couples just aren't into everything that goes along with a big wedding, but it's also important to them to have stunning photos to look back on for their entire lives. This is where elopements come in! Your photos will be gorgeous, guaranteed (if you choose a professional photographer, that is!).

3. You're super romantic. There is nothing as romantic as running away to get married and then surprising all your family and friends with the big news! Morgan + Wager posted a "just eloped" photo to Facebook after their elopement to share their news... How fun is that!

4. Your family is crazy. Some of us just have totally cray-cray families who may or may not make a wedding a little (or a lot!) stressful, dramatic or awkward. Lord love 'em. Families can make weddings SUPER insane (we've seen it... eek!). If you're pretty sure your family is going to put a damper on your big day, an elopement miiiight be the way to go.

5. You want to get married, like NOW. We can plan elopements super fast. As long as we've got time to get the flowers and cake in, we've got time to plan an unforgettable elopement! We planned one of our most gorgeous (in my opinion) elopements in FOUR days. If you just can't wait any longer to tie the knot, call us up!

6. You want a fairy tale wedding, but you're low on funds. Elopements are less expensive than weddings, obviously, because there are fewer guests and only a cake cutting instead of a full-on reception. It is not realistic for everyone to be able to spend tons of money on their wedding day. The Barn's elopements are proof that you can have an utterly stunning wedding on a budget! (I just want to add that ALL of our all-inclusive wedding collections are lower than national and state wedding cost averages. You can read more about that here.)

7. You don't like having all the attention on you. Elopements are simple and intimate, and that's perfect if one of you is super shy... It can be just the two of you (plus your officiant and photographer), or you can invite up to 25 guests. Way less overwhelming than the amount of guests at a traditional wedding! If the thought of saying your I do's and sharing your first dance in front of loads of people terrified you, consider eloping!

8. Your honeymoon is equally (or more) important to you as your wedding. Weddings are expensive. Honeymoons are expensive. If you want to have an amazing wedding, but you also want to go on the trip of a lifetime, an elopement could be your answer. Our elopement packages are inexpensive, but gorgeous... You're not sacrificing style when you elope! And you're also not spending so much that you can't afford to go on a killer honeymoon. It's a win-win situation!

9. You want to be surrounded by your closest friends and family in an intimate, low key setting. If your mom is pressuring you into inviting 80 people you don't even know, tell her you've decided to elope and are keeping the guest list under 25. She'll be thrilled. ;) Sharing your best day ever with only those closest to you is SO intimate and romantic and meaningful. It's also totally chic and trendy!

10. You want a sweet, meaningful vow renewal with your spouse. You can have an "elopement" at The Barn even if you're already married! Our elopement collection is perfect for vow renewals. That's totally my plan for in a few years, if I can get my sweet husband on board!

There are sooooo many other wonderful, totally legit reasons to elope! Elopements at The Barn  = No stress. Gorgeous wedding. Beautiful florals and other details. Tons of romance. Delicious cake. What could be better?  You can read more about what our elopement collection includes here

Fall at The Barn

We're soaking up every second of spring and each of our gorgeous spring weddings, but let's take a minute to talk about fall out here at The Barn. Many of our prospective couples want to know what The Barn looks like in a certain month before they book their wedding with us... last week, we showed you what the landscape around The Barn looks like during our spring season (March through June), so let's check out what it looks like in the fall to early winter season (September through December).

If you're not familiar with Arkansas weather, let me just tell you that September is basically just an extension of summer. September weddings are usually pretty hot, and the leaves haven't typically started changing colors at all. Our leaves don't start changing much until mid to late October, when temperatures are a little cooler (and sometimes downright chilly during evening weddings). Leaves usually peak in our area in late October or early November, so if you're wanting a super colorful fall wedding, go for one of those dates! The leaves are still beautiful even as they begin to fall, so November weddings are still colorful and gorgeous, although quite a bit chillier. We don't have many weddings in December, but we do book amazing Christmas parties. It very rarely snows in our area in December, so if you book a December date, don't get your hopes up too much for snow! We occasionally book elopements during our off-season (January to early March), so if you have your heart set on a snowy wedding, talk to us about those dates. Here is what The Barn looks like during the fall and early winter months!

Spring at The Barn

One of the most common questions we get from prospective brides and grooms is: "What does The Barn look like in (a specific month)?" We wanted to share what The Barn looks like in both of our wedding seasons - spring to early summer and fall to early winter. The Barn is beautiful in every season, and the landscape will be the most gorgeous, dreamiest backdrop for your big day no matter what month you choose to get married in. But there's just something about The Barn in the spring that I can't get enough of. Early March is still a little bit wintery - trees and flowers haven't started to bloom just yet, and sometimes these weddings are chilly! Late March and April weddings are absolutely stunning, with new blooms adding pops of color into the landscape - the prettiest details that we don't even have to plan! During May and June, the landscape is super lush and green, which makes for the dreamiest photos. Here is what The Barn looks like from March to June!

Transformation Tuesday

Can you believe that The Barn has been open and creating dream weddings for more than FIVE years now?! We can't believe it either! Our first styled shoot took place back in the fall of 2011, and it is absolutely crazy to look back over the last six years and see how much has changed since then. We've been in love with every single wedding since the beginning, but we've definitely made some improvements, and we continue to do so. We have a "Barn Way" of doing things, and our team has worked hard over the past few years to really perfect the way they do things. We're ALWAYS learning and trying to be better than we were before. Looking back on those first few styled shoots and weddings, it's easy to see how far we've come. Things look pretty different out here these days... Just for fun, let's take a look back on just a few things that have changed at The Barn since the beginning!

The Barn has been gorgeous since the very beginning. With its chandeliers, the famous barn doors with their drapes, and rustic barn wood, it's never been anything but jaw-dropping! After the first couple of years, we added a few strands of cafe lighting inside The Barn. They add such a romantic touch, and they look magical in photos! They make every reception at least 50 times prettier. :)

Our ceremony site has changed SO much since the beginning. Back in 2011, before The Barn was even built, we had a styled shoot that included a little ceremony set-up in the area in which the ceremony site would eventually be. As you can tell, there was NOTHING there. Then we put up our rustic altar that you've seen so many times, but we still didn't have our famous gold chiavari chairs, so we had hay bale seating at our first wedding! (We can still do hay bale seating if that's your style!) Next, it was rows of gold chairs alternating with rows of old church pews. So pretty! These days, we've got the prettiest wooden benches. Which look is your favorite?

We've been through a few blue swings since the beginning, and they just keep on getting prettier! First, it was our pretty blue chair swing. Then the "love" swing that was rustic chic and so fun for photos. And then we sorta combined the two by painting "love" on an old, distressed blue chair!

Prepping for Wedding Season!

Wedding season at The Barn is just around the corner! We could NOT be more excited for the amazing weddings we have planned for 2017! It's going to be a big year at The Barn, y'all. Our team has been super busy prepping for the upcoming year and all the insanity that goes along with it. You may already know that we don't do any weddings or events between December and March, but that doesn't mean our team gets to relax for a few months and do nothing. They're all just as busy as ever, preparing for the upcoming wedding season! And the work our team does during our off-season is far from glamorous. Want to know how they spend the off-season before the craziness starts? Let me tell ya!

*Leaves, leaves, leaves!!! One of the huge projects the team works on each year to prepare for wedding season is raking a ton of leaves. It's kind of a rite of passage! Everyone's gotta do it. Also on the to-do list? Landscaping, prepping the grounds and making them totally picture-worthy. It's not the most fun job ever, but it sure makes this place look pretty!

*Custom projects for upcoming weddings. Many of the weddings this year have unique, exciting details, and our team has been working hard on those! Think: pieces made from old doors, custom seating collections, and a whole bunch of other pretty things. It's gonna be GOOD.

*Inventory and organizing. If you've ever seen our store room (or if you've noticed all the details from our past weddings), you know we've collected approximately A MILLION wedding details. Vases, jars, vintage glasses, cake stands, all the tools our team uses on a weekly basis, and boxes and boxes of other goodies. It's pretty amazing. But it's also a lot of work getting all that stuff organized!

*Revamping our processes. Our team is currently analyzing what worked in previous years, as well as what didn't. They're always trying to streamline planning processes and make sure they're as efficient as possible. We're always trying to figure out what we can do to be better for our couples!

*Planning for the future. Our team is always planning future weddings, future projects, and more!

I can't say it enough... Our team always blows my mind with their hard work and their incredible talents! The 2017 wedding season is going to be over-the-top. I can't wait, and I hope you're excited, too!
