Today's wedding is a super sweet rustic-chic wedding from the spring of 2013. This wedding was simple and pretty, and these photos by Elizabeth Leighton Photography just seem so calming to me. Perhaps it's because this couple's love is so obvious, or perhaps it's because there's nothing like The Barn in springtime!
Mae and Mike were married at The Barn at Twin Oaks Ranch on May 4, 2013. When you plan a wedding in May in Arkansas, you typically expect warm weather, and at the very worst, you have to worry about some rain. However, the day of this wedding, there was snow in the forecast. "I'm not usually one to stress, but a huge cold front came through and they were expecting snow, so I had been freaking out," she said. "It ended up just raining the day of, and then right before the ceremony, the sun came out and it was beautiful! Everything was more than I could have asked for."
Their color scheme was ivory with pastels, and Mae defined their wedding theme as "a little country-chic." They wanted to keep their color palette and theme simple, yet elegant. "I'm not into glitz and glam really, or bright colors, so the theme really fit me and my husband's personality," Mae said.
Before all the good stuff went down, Mae and Mike's photographer, Elizabeth Leighton, took some stunning pictures of The Barn and the pretty land it sits on. I just love it when photographers take a bunch of pictures of this gorgeous place!
35 acres of gorgeous country bliss!
This photo of Mae with her bridesmaids outside of the Bridal Suite is so fun! We're all about a bridal party in boots!
I've got to tell you about how obsessed I am with Mae's wedding look. Her dress, from David's Bridal, is simply stunning. Her baby's breath crown is so lovely! And well, that smile just says it all. :) This is one pretty bride, y'all!
Speaking of pretty, look at this bouquet! "MY BOUQUETS!!!! Seriously, I've never seen bouquets any prettier," Mae said. "It was exactly what I had envisioned and more. Lots of hydrangeas, roses, peonies and more. I also nestled in a few brooches that were my great-grandmother's."
Mae asked her bridesmaids to choose their own cream or nude dresses, and look how lovely they look! I love mismatched bridesmaids' dresses anyway, but they look SO good in this color! This wedding party is just looking fabulous.
Mae and Mike's wedding ceremony was perfectly rustic-chic. Their burlap and floral altar was gorgeous! They had vintage doors at the entrance of their ceremony, as well as simple logs with floral arrangements and candles lining the aisle. Their wedding program fans were precious! And their ceremony was super sweet.
These flower girl outfits are THE cutest.
After the ceremony, Mae and Mike and their guests headed over to The Barn for a gorgeous, rustic-chic reception. Burlap, wood and pastel flowers is such a pretty combination! The Barn dressed up in this style is just amazing. Their tables also had painted Mason jars to match their color scheme. Mae's favorite detail of the day was The Barn itself. "It made the wedding so special," she said. "I want to live there!"
(By the way, y'all will have to forgive us for some of these photos... They were taken with an iPhone!)
Mae also had her grandmother's wedding dress displayed, as well as pictures of their loved ones on their own wedding days. "My grandma is special to me, and If I couldn't wear her dress, I wanted it to be there," Mae said. So sweet!
For favors, Mae and Mike gave out koozies and cute little packets of wildflower seeds "so our guests could watch our love grow," Mae said.
As with all weddings (seriously, all of them), there were a few little mishaps at Mae and Mike's wedding, and I loved how honest Mae was about them! "We had some funny stuff happen, like the cake falling, but that just made for good laughs and The Barn staff never missed a beat," she said. Look how pretty their cake was before the accident! ;)
After their reception, Mae and Mike headed to Playa del Carmen. "It was beautiful and a dose of much needed R&R," Mae said. "We had our first couple's massage, and that was hilarious. By the end of the week, we didn't want to leave!"
As always, I asked Mae to give us some feedback on how we did. She had some really sweet things to say about us! "The Barn staff did an amazing job! They took care of so much, which was sometimes kind of hard not to be in control, but I couldn't have asked for a better day," she said. "I felt like they had a camera inside my head and knew exactly what I wanted. They were very accommodating and hospitable. Can't thank them enough for all they did!"
Mae and Mike, we can't thank YOU enough either! It was truly an honor to get to be a part of your wedding day! We wish y'all a lifetime of happiness and love. xoxoxoxo
