The wedding I get to share with y'all today is unlike any other we've had at The Barn. It had a super glam theme and a fun color palette, and it was inspired by one of my absolute favorite movies, The Great Gatsby. We see tons of rustic-chic weddings at The Barn, and while they are all gorgeous, it's fun to mix things up a bit every once in a while. When we get to do something totally glamorous and elegant, it turns out really special!
These photos were taken by Manda Standridge, and she did a beautiful job at capturing all the fab details of this sweet couple's day. Can't wait for y'all to see this one!
Paige and Dorian were married at The Barn at Twin Oaks Ranch on June 12, 2015. "Our wedding day was a very important day to us," Paige said. "We chose the date because Dorian's mother passed away on that day in 1995. We chose our day to honor her memory and bring some happiness to the day for him."
Their color scheme included turquoise, gold and lots of cream/white/ivory shades. "We wanted a vintage, Great Gatsby styled wedding," Paige said. "We chose our colors based on this theme, gold to incorporate the flash and the turquoise to add a color we both loved."
There is something extra beautiful about a rustic backdrop like The Barn paired with glamorous, glitzy decor! Another glam, gorgeous detail from this wedding: Paige's stunning gown, which was from Danielle's Bridal. I adore the silhouette of this dress, and the belt around the waist added the perfect amount of bling. This entire bridal party looked amazing. The bridesmaids' turquoise dresses, which perfectly matched the groomsmen's suspenders and bow ties, were from Kely Clothing. Gray is always my favorite color for grooms and groomsmen, and these guys looked fantastic! Gray + turquoise... I probably never would have thought to pair these two together, but it looks so good.
I've got to brag on our floral designer, Ginger, for a minute. This lady is truly talented. No matter what style/theme/colors our couples choose, she always creates stunning floral masterpieces that perfectly complement their decor. Every bouquet and arrangement she makes blows my mind! Paige's flowers were totally different than what we typically see at weddings at The Barn, and Ginger did an amazing job at creating bouquets and arrangements that were perfect for this Gatsby glam wedding!
"My bouquets for the bridesmaids were plain and simple, an array of white flowers," Paige said. "Whereas my bouquet was absolutely stunning. It consisted of various white flowers along with several turquoise and feathers, simply because I wanted to have a little something extra." Don't you love those turquoise flowers?! Gorgeous!
Paige and Dorian's ceremony was full of gold, vintage/Gatsby-inspired details. Their aisle was lined with gold vases with white and turquoise flower arrangements. The altar was draped in ivory fabric and also had white and turquoise arrangements. They had a blue table with their unity sand set-up, as well as a couple more vases with flowers. Paige also surprised Dorian with a special detail for their ceremony.
"I had gotten some pictures of his mother from his grandparents and had one of those pictures seated in his honorary seating," she said. "On top of the pictures, I also wore her boots on our special day. This was all a complete surprise to him and I’m so happy I was able to have her there for him on this day." Isn't this lady the sweetest? What a special detail that must have been for this lucky groom.
Paige and Dorian's wedding ceremony was small and intimate, with their closest family and friends watching as they said their I do's. It was the perfect ceremony!
There's nothing like those first few moments as newlyweds! I love these portraits of Paige and Dorian moments after they became husband and wife. How romantic!
This reception, y'all. We had never done anything like this before, and it was fabulous! It's a good thing we like gold, because it was everywhere. Their tables were set with ivory linens and gold, glittery table runners. They had gold vases, bottles and candlesticks, with white and turquoise floral arrangements. Their place settings were finished off with turquoise napkins and gold, glittery napkin rings.
What's a Gatsby themed wedding without a stunning turquoise, gold and black cake topped off with a peacock feather?! Yes, this cake was amazing. TheCakePlace outdid themselves once again. And that cake was just as pretty (and delicious!) on the inside as it was on the outside.
Paige's favorite moment from her wedding day also happened during the reception, and I'll let her tell you about it in her own words: "Something unforgettable about our wedding day was our first dance," she said. "Neither of us dance so this was a special moment for us. Honestly, it wasn’t even the dancing I will always remember. It was the words we shared while we danced. As we had our first dance we talked about our day and he told me about his emotions the moment he saw the pictures of his mother. He told me when he saw them he stopped dead in his tracks and began to cry. He told me he thought I was beautiful every single day, but on this day he lost his breath the moment he saw me. As we talked and danced, we both cried. This is the time I will never forget." So, so sweet! These two are precious.
When their reception was over, these two had a sparkler getaway and left for a fun honeymoon. Those boots Paige is wearing? They belonged to Dorian's late mother, and she totally rocked them. What a special detail!
"For our honeymoon we went to Atlanta, Georgia," Paige said. "We rocked out at a concert of Kenny Chesney, Chase Rice, Brantley Gilbert, and Eric Church. At the concert we were featured on No Shoes Nation Radio because we made signs that said 'Married Yesterday.' We also spent time at Six Flags over Georgia and the Coca Cola factory." Sounds like a great time!
I asked Paige for a little bit of feedback about how our team did while planning her wedding and on her wedding day, and this is what this sweet lady had to say! "The staff at the Barn did absolutely amazing. I am not at all a coordinated person, nor am I girly. Luckily, the lovely ladies stepped in to make my wedding day perfect. The flowers (which I still don’t know what they were called) were beautiful. The décor was stunning and I couldn’t have imagined any better. Every little detail took away my breath."
Paige and Dorian, thank you so much for choosing The Barn as your wedding venue! We loved your wedding, and we're so glad you did, too! We wish y'all the very best! xoxoxoxoxo
See what I mean?! This wedding was truly special! We love a unique wedding more than anything, and this one was over-the-top amazing.
