Today's bride is a girl after my own heart! We both had pink and gold weddings, and we were both married at The Barn in October, one year apart. So obviously I love this wedding a little extra! These two lovebirds got married in the rain, as so many of our couples have, and it was truly magical!
These stunning photos were taken by Danielle Davis Art/Photography, and they're the prettiest. This couple also had a videographer, Branchout Weddings, and I'll be sure to show y'all the video once it's finished!
Ashton and Mickey were married at The Barn at Twin Oaks Ranch on October 11, 2014. Despite all their hopeful wishing, it rained on their wedding day, but that certainly didn't put a damper on things! Their colors were blush pink, ivory and gold. "I had been pinning ideas on Pinterest for a long time and fell in love with how soft and beautiful those colors looked together," Ashton said. They also had lace and burlap details throughout their decor.
Ashton's stunning dress, which was from David's Bridal, was timeless and sooo gorgeous on her. Plus, this gal wore boots, and you know we LOVE that!
The bridesmaids' dresses were also from David's Bridal, and look how pretty they are! You can't beat a blush, classic, floor-length dress for bridesmaids. The groomsmen looked stunning in gray, too, and blush + gray is seriously the prettiest color combination. This wedding party is lookin' good! And aren't those little flower girls the absolute cutest?!
Let's talk about how pretty these bouquets are! "Our bouquets were absolutely stunning!" Ashton said. "They had so many different flowers, some that I had seen before, others I had not. They were so perfect!"
They consisted of garden roses, dahlias, baby's breath and pretty greenery. The bridesmaids carried a smaller version of Ashton's bouquet. I loooove these! They're feminine and just perfect.
Ashton and Mickey chose not to have a first look, so Ashton decided to have a father-daughter first look. And my goodness, the pictures of this moment are the sweetest!
Ashton and Mickey's ceremony details were feminine, creative, dreamy and stunning! This tulle altar is pure magic. Their aisle was lined with wooden crates, floral arrangements that matched the bouquets, pink mason jars, and chicken wire cloches. Seriously. I can't stop looking at these ceremony details! Our team is insanely talented, y'all.
As I mentioned, the weather during the ceremony was a little dreary, and here's what Ashton said about that. "We wanted the rain to hold off, but it decided to start a heavy mist just as I was about to walk down the aisle, so we just went with it and got married in the rain," she said. "But it was perfect because I was marrying my best friend. By the end of the night, my dress looked ombre because so much mud had soaked into it. Everyone kept saying, 'You're taking this so well,' but I've always been the kind of person that if I can't change something, I'm not going to let it ruin my day by me worrying about it. It was our wedding day, and I had the mindset that it's going to be perfect in its own way and it was.” There’s not much that's better than a relaxed, easygoing bride!
Even with the rain, Ashton and Mickey's ceremony was sweet, intimate and perfect. "I will always remember standing at the altar, just smiling and giggling and not hearing much that was being said," Ashton said. "I was just so happy and excited, yet nervous to be in front of people."
After the ceremony, Ashton and Mickey had a few portraits taken, and even though it was pouring, these two went with it and were total champs. Look how happy they are! Nothing is sweeter than those first few private moments as husband and wife. So much love!
Ashton and Mickey's reception was over-the-top! Their details were glam-meets-rustic-chic. Plenty of lace, burlap, gorgeous florals, and a stunning sequined, gold backdrop behind their sweetheart table. Their tables had burlap tablecloths, lace runners, gold bottles and vases, lace-wrapped mason jars, flowers that matched their bouquets, white and gold place settings, and blush napkins with gold glittered napkin rings. I love these colors, and I love the combination of rustic and glam!
There were sooo many fabulous details at this reception. A gold, glittery custom bar with the couple's initial (yes, we went there!), the cutest favor display (which were burlap bags full of candy that said "Love is Sweet"), a memory table, a table full of photos of the couple, and the most stunning sweetheart table backdrop, which was glittery with huge paper flowers. Swoooooon!
This wedding, like all of our others, also had some incredible food. If you're wondering if the food our vendors prepare is good... let me tell you. Heck yes, it is! Here's proof!
You know what else is delicious AND beautiful?! Every single dessert theCakePlace makes for our weddings. That cake table backdrop is spot on, too. Ashton's cake was rustic chic, with rope wrapped around each layer and pink and white flowers. Instead of a groom's cake, Mickey had a strawberry shortcake bar, complete with haybales, the couple's initial and plenty of rustic details.
The rest of the night was filled with sweet first dances, a bouquet and garter toss, and lots of lots of dancing. You should see all the photos of their guests dancing. There are some good ones! ;)
Ashton said one of her favorite memories from the day was seeing how much fun her new husband was having (how sweet is that?!). "He is a quiet person, but he wasn't that night," she said. "He was dancing all night and having a blast! That's something I will always remember!"
At the end of the night, the newlyweds made their grand exit through a tunnel of sparklers. They went on a mini-honeymoon to Lake Ouachita, for some time spent together fishing. This June, they're going to Destin for their big honeymoon, and obviously they can't wait! We hope y'all have the best time!
As always, I asked Ashton to tell us how we did. We love getting feedback! Here's what she said: "Y'all did an absolutely amazing job with everything and I can't say thank you enough!!! Y'all truly made the experience of 'planning a wedding' so great! I very rarely, if ever, felt stressed and it turned out to be the best day of my life!!"
Ashton and Mickey, thank y'all so much!!! It was an honor to get to be a part of your big day, and we're so happy for y'all! We wish you the very best! Have fun in Florida!!! xoxoxoxoxo
I hope y'all adored this wedding as much as I did! Totally swoon-worthy, am I right? <3
