One of my favorite things about interviewing our former Barn Brides is letting them sort of relive their wedding day. I can always tell how excited they are to be talking about their gorgeous weddings, especially when it's a bride from a couple of years ago and she maybe hasn't thought so in depth about her wedding in a while! Today's couple was married more than two years ago, and I could tell by reading this bride's interview how much The Barn still means to her and how much she loved her adorable wedding!
Lisa and Michael were married at The Barn at Twin Oaks Ranch on April 13, 2013. Their color palette was grey and yellow, with a touch of turquoise. Their wedding was simple, earthy and fun!
"We didn't really have a theme," Lisa said. "We just tried to base it around God and our beliefs as Christians."
If you've never been to Arkansas in April, you're missing out! Colorful flowers and trees bloom out, and everything is so lush and green! These two got married during probably the prettiest week of the whole year. In fact, Lisa said one of her favorite details of the day was the dogwood trees! Just look at these photos Ken Gehring captured of the prettiness around The Barn on their wedding day.
Lisa's stunning dress was from David's Bridal, and how pretty is it on her?! The silhouette is so classy, and I love the back of this dress. Lisa, you're a beautiful bride!
Lisa said one of her most treasured memories of the day took place before the wedding. "One of my favorite parts was getting ready with my 8 year old daughter and each of us trying to make sure the other felt special," she said. So sweet!
The bridesmaids' dresses were also from David's Bridal, and the grey color and timeless shapes make these dresses so elegant!
Lisa and her girls carried the most beautiful yellow bouquets. The texture of these bouquets is perfection! Succulents and billy balls made these all-yellow bouquets extra special and stand-out. Love!
Michael and his groomsmen also wore grey... and if you ask me, this is the most handsome color for suits! They also wore billy ball boutonnieres, which were accented with a little bit of turquoise.
These two had a really cool getaway car! Seriously, y'all, my husband keeps talking about how awesome this car. I know very little about cars, but apparently this one is super cool. ;)
Some of Lisa's favorite details of her wedding day were from the ceremony.
"We had a canvas painting of a cross that was our guestbook and we took communion instead of doing a unity candle or anything like that," she said. "Our nephew carried a sign down the aisle that read 'Michael, here comes your girl.' I walked down the aisle to "Girl on Fire” by Alicia Keys at my husband’s request. I thought it was quite funny. Just the fact that it was at a barn was so unique!"
I love the look on Michael's face when he sees his bride walking down the aisle! Precious. :)
Lisa and Michael had some incredibly romantic portraits taken around The Barn... as you can see, spring at The Barn is the perfect time for a dreamy, romantic, magical wedding! The setting is so pretty.
Lisa and Michael's reception decorations were very simple and fun. "All of our decorations were awesome," Lisa said. "Everything just flowed together so well!"
Their tables were decorated with grey linens, grey & white chevron table runners, simple place settings, yellow floral arrangements with succulents and turquoise details, turquoise lanterns, and mason jars with little turquoise printed straws. These tables are so charming!
The rest of their evening was spent dancing and having a great time with their loved ones! After the big day, they went on an all-inclusive honeymoon trip to Riviera Maya, Mexico. "It was AWESOME," Lisa said. "Totally relaxing, intimate and fun!" Sounds perfect.
Finally, I asked Lisa to tell us how we did! Here's what she had to say about her experience with The Barn: "I’ll say it over and over again, The Barn is the best! I’ve suggested it to quite a few brides and actually know one getting married there Saturday! It was so easy to just show up and love every minute of my wedding."
Lisa and Michael, thank you SO MUCH for choosing The Barn as your wedding venue! We loved getting to be a part of your special day! Best wishes! xoxoxoxo
Did y'all love this sweet wedding?! I think yellow and grey is one of my favorite color combinations... it's totally underrated. :)
