I've loved sharing all kinds of fall wedding inspiration over the past few weeks, and today I wanted to share again a post that I wrote last year about the yummiest fall wedding detail: cakes with fall-inspired details! (P.S. Grab a snack.)
What makes a wedding cake fall-themed?
*Decor. To me, the type of cake that looks like it belongs at a fall wedding is a little bit rustic. A few ways to achieve a rustic-chic look for your cake: frosting that looks a little bit messy (in a good way!), twigs, pine cones, burlap, greenery, apples, flowers in rich colors. Or display it on a rustic wood cake stand. If rustic isn't your thing, a simple cake with a few flowers is perfect for any season.
*Let it be naked! The naked cake trend is still going strong, and they're so perfect for fall weddings. You can add a few of the decor items mentioned above, but it's not necessary... even a plain ol', undecorated naked cake is beautifully rustic!
*Flavor. If you're a Barn Bride, you'll get to go to theCakePlace, our preferred vendor who makes the best and the most beautiful cakes and desserts, for a cake tasting. And it's sorta the most fun thing ever. You'll get to try all the classics, like white cake, chocolate cake and red velvet cake... but they also throw in some flavors that are perfect for fall, like pumpkin and apple, and they're out-of-this-world delish. Pick a fall flavor for one layer of your cake! It'll make it instantly fall-appropriate, no matter what style you choose for the outside. (FYI, my vote: pumpkin cake with cream cheese frosting. YUM.)
*Skip the cake altogether, and go for pie! Pie is the ultimate fall dessert. Pumpkin, apple, pecan, sweet potato... pie was made for fall. If you're not super into cake, pie bars are killer! (Or mini pie favors. Your guests will love you.)
Tomorrow I've got a really sweet, intimate pink wedding to share with y'all!
