Have I mentioned how much we love a wedding with bold, bright colors and a unique theme? Well, we do! This fall 2015 wedding is just so, so pretty. Most of our brides have their ceremony and reception at The Barn, but this couple was married at St. Benedict Church at the Subiaco Abbey. Then they drove on out to The Barn for a stunning reception and the most fun party! There were SO many great details at this wedding. This couple's main priority was throwing a really fun party for their guests, and it showed... there was so much to do, see and eat at their reception! It was full of fun, colorful ideas, and I have a feeling this wedding is going to blow up Pinterest. ;) This couple is absolutely precious, and these photos really show their love for each other. Just a warning: I fell in love with all of their wedding photos, so this post is going to be picture heavy. Sorry, not sorry!
These photos, by Photo Love Photography, captured the romantic vibe of this sweet couple's big day, and I know you're going to freak out over them as much as I did!
Jessica and Brett were married on November 14, 2015. While they were married in the fall, these two wanted to stay as far away as possible from a typical fall theme. "I love bright colors and bold geometric shapes so I went with jewel-toned colors with gold-metallic accents," Jessica said. "The deep eggplants, vibrant magentas, fuchsias, and rich emerald greens were all so beautiful for our fall wedding."
They chose not to have a specific "theme," but the vibe of their wedding was romantic and rustic-glam with modern details. "I figured, hey- we’re in a barn and we might get a little dirt on our clothes, but at least we will look good doing it!" Jessica said. Right on!
Can we talk about this lady's dress?! Oh my goodness. Have you ever seen a classier bride? Jessica's Essence of Australia gown came from The Bridal Boutique in New Orleans. It was a lace, strapless ball gown with a sweetheart neckline, a pleated tiered skirt, and a chapel train. This dress had it all, and it was AHH-MAZING. And that veil? Swooooon!!!
"I’m pretty modest, but I have a few tattoos on my arms that I didn’t want to be such a focal point on my wedding day so I added a long sleeved lace jacket over my dress which kept me warm throughout the night as well," Jessica said. "I wore a lace, cathedral length veil for the ceremony and had a matching finger tip length veil that I danced the night away in at the reception!"
One great thing about having your ceremony elsewhere: you get fabulous photos in two different locations. So pretty!
Jessica, you are the most gorgeous bride!
The bridesmaids wore floor length, flowy, romantic Mori Lee gowns in eggplant. Two bridesmaids wore dresses with cap sleeves and a sheer lace back, while the other wore a strapless gown. "They had their hair styled in loose up-dos which showed off the sheer lace back of the dress and complimented the dresses with gold accessories," Jessica said. The groomsmen wore gray tuxes with purple ties. The flower girls wore sweet white dresses. This bridal party looks fantastic. What a gorgeous color combination!
I'm sure you've noticed by now just how incredible the bouquets and floral arrangements at this wedding were. So. Much. Excellent. Color!
"I definitely challenged The Barn’s florist, Ms. Ginger, to conjure up something that captured all of my jewel tone colors, that also had a wild, but romantic look to it as well," Jessica said. "Well, let me just say, Ms. Ginger was successful! Not just my bouquet, but ALL the bridesmaids’ bouquets, the groomsman boutonnieres, the table décor and centerpieces, and all the flowers throughout the barn were a jewel-toned colored, textural masterpiece! The bouquets were wrapped with shimmery gold ribbon and had king proteas, peonies, ranunculus, varied roses, succulents, gold painted eucalyptus leaves, and some flowers I don’t even know the names of! The flowers everywhere that day were stunning and gorgeous!"
I cannot get enough of this gorgeous bouquet! This thing had a lot going on, and it was marvelous. The bridesmaids' bouquets were just as stunning. The flower girls also carried small bouquets and wore the prettiest little flower crowns, and the groom's and groomsmen's boutonnieres were full of color, as well.
Jessica and Brett had a first look at the church before their ceremony. It was breathtaking and romantic, and these photos show just how crazy these two are about each other! I love Jessica's description of those precious memories. These two... so sweet!
"We would both agree that we were so happy to spend this intimate time with one another," she said. "When Brett turned around and saw me in my dress for the first time he gasped. A few moments passed as we took each other and this moment in all at one time and he then told me how beautiful I was. I couldn’t believe it! I actually took his breath away! At that moment, I had never felt more beautiful before in my entire life. I loved our first look because it was our private time for us to share our excitement with each other. There was no pressure from family or guests to rush us along. There was no particular place to stand or which way to look. Probably the greatest part of all was that our reactions were completely genuine. Our first look wasn’t just smiling, but genuine joy and laughter. Because that’s what we do, we laugh at everything!"
The dress and veil in all their glory! Heart eyes!!!
"Our time spent at Subiaco Abbey on our wedding day was truly peaceful and beautiful," Jessica said. "It was a farm, fall Saturday afternoon and the sun was shining through the stained glass windows of the church. We had an acoustic guitar player for our ceremony which sounded so beautiful echoing inside the church walls. Our ceremony was beautiful in all its holiness. Being present in front of God, and our family and friends, exchanging our vows and making that lifelong commitment to one another was very personal and special to me."
As soon as Jessica and Brett arrived at The Barn, they took a few more romantic photos together as newlyweds before the sun went down. I LOVE these portraits. The Barn during the fall cannot be beat!
Where do I even start with Jessica and Brett's reception? There was A LOT going on. This reception had so many details, many of which told their story. "We wanted our guests to leave knowing who we were as individuals and as a couple," she said. First up: the cocktail hour.
"Brett and I knew we wanted a party," she said. "We wanted to keep things simple, but provide opportunities for our loved ones to create memorable moments. Because of our love for the outdoors we used Brett's canoe and filled it with different types of beer for our guests to sip on throughout the night. During our cocktail hour, southern food was served and guests got to enjoy listening to a bluegrass band while waiting for the reception to begin."
Jessica and Brett know how to throw a party, so they had not one or two, but SIX favors for their guests! Personalized koozies. Purple and gold cups in which their signature cocktails were served (pictured above). Christmas ornaments with their names and wedding date, made out of pine and oak trees from their property (seriously!). A trail mix bar with candies, nuts, pretzels, and a whole popcorn bar, so their guests could create their own mix. A photo booth with photo strips for their guests to take home. And my personal favorite: moonshine.
"For our guests to get a real taste of Arkansas, we put together mini mason jars which were filled with two different kinds homemade Arkansas moonshine- Apple Pie and Lemon Drop," Jessica said. YUM!
And now the reception itself... My, oh, my! These reception tables are some of my absolute favorites. Jewel tones. Rustic-meets-modern decor. So, so many gorgeous florals. Gold details. They even had "I SPY" games on their tables to make sure their guests had fun all through the night. These two are blowing my mind! My personal favorite details: the tiny geometric terrariums, small floral arrangements in vintage glassware, and greenery in the chandeliers.
"The Barn was decorated top to bottom with lush flowers that were also used to decorate my wire hanging geometric cages and glass terrariums that I provided to The Barn, along with other geometric vases and candle holders used to add a little of my personal touch," Jessica said.
Jessica and Brett's head table was also full of rustic-glam-modern details. Lush, rich colored florals. Hanging floral arrangements! A hanging geometric cage filled with flowers. Small geometric terrariums. Candles. I don't think we've ever had a prettier head table!
Jessica's family is from New Orleans, and Brett's family is from Illinois. They wanted to incorporate that, as well as their love for their families. "It was important that the day was as much about them as it was about the both of us," Jessica said. They told their story through so many details, including their menu! They served their guests a buffet including a North of the Mason Dixon menu and a South of the Mason Dixon menu. They served prime rib, a mashed potato bar, shrimp and grits, shrimp and catfish po-boys, and mac and cheese.
Their cake table was AMAZING. Since these two go all out on everything else, it's no surprise that they had SEVERAL wedding cakes, each with its own gorgeous topper.
"We had four different wedding cakes along with fried pies, mini king cakes, and an assortment of cookies in the shape of Arkansas and Brett’s favorite hockey team, the Chicago Blackhawks," Jessica said. "Following a New Orleans tradition, I had silver charms attached to ribbons placed inside the cake and before the cake was cut, I had a cake pull ceremony with my bridesmaids and friends."
"Inside the barn there was a photo display table set up so guests could see our baby pictures, those terrible junior high pictures, and pictures of some of our favorite memories with friends and family," Jessica said. "There were also pictures of us in frames throughout The Barn and a photobook of our engagement pictures for guests to look at. We also had a cigar bar set up for the guys to enjoy while the ladies danced the night away."
Whew, I told you, a lot of details! When the reception started, Jessica and Brett made their grand entrance to Nothing But A Good Time by Poison, and then they shared their first dance to Free by The Zac Brown Band. Their reception was full of all the good wedding traditions: first dances, cake cutting, toasting the happy couple, a bouquet and garter toss, and then they had a seriously rocking party with their loved ones!
When the night was over, the new Mr. and Mrs. made their grand sparkler exit! They didn't go on their honeymoon just yet, but they plan to go to Colorado, Wyoming and Montana to visit national parks, hike and camp. That's my kind of vacation!
Jessica had a few things to say about The Barn that really melted my heart! This captures the beauty of The Barn and how great this place truly is: "Nestled right in the mountains, creeks, and trees we found The Barn," she said. "Its natural beauty and laid-back vibe not only spoke to our love of the outdoors, but we immediately knew this was the place we wanted to share with our friends and family. We are truly blessed to have been able to spend our wedding day at The Barn celebrating the first day of the rest of our lives with our friends and family."
About her wedding planning process and her wedding day, Jessica said, "Our wedding was the best day ever because of the people who we asked to help execute our vision and they killed it! The girls at The Barn are such a great team of people who helped create our wedding and reflect our vision. We were lucky to find the absolute best people to help us with our wedding and because of them, the day was more than we could have hoped for."
Jessica and Brett, we LOVED your wedding, and it was an honor to get to throw this epic party with you!!! Seriously, we're so thankful you picked The Barn as your wedding venue! We wish you two all the best! xoxoxoxoxo
Y'all. There are NO WORDS for how much I love this wedding. The colors. The modern, rustic-glam vibes. The insane amount of details. And this sweet, sweet couple. One of my faves, for sure!
