I hope y'all had a great New Year's Eve and a relaxing long weekend! Now that we're officially a few days into 2016, let's talk about wedding trends for this year! Just a handful of things that are going to be totally in this year: metallics (again, but we're not complaining!); more romantic and intimate ceremonies and receptions; flowers with a loose, natural, just-picked look; lush bouquets; tone on tone color palettes. And barn weddings are still all the rage... That's good news for us! Not that we were worried. ;)
Here are five more things that I hope we're going to see lots of at The Barn in 2016! We saw some of these in our weddings in previous years, and I really hope these trends keep on keeping on. :)
Patterns & Prints
It's no secret that I looove patterns for weddings (I blogged about them here). We had a few weddings in 2015 that incorporated fun patterns into their reception decor and even their cake. In 2016, I hope we see lots of patterned linens, cakes and bridesmaids' dresses!
Mismatched Bridesmaids' Dresses
I know, I know, mismatched dresses aren't exactly a new trend. But was it just me, or did it seem like that trend was even more amazing in 2015? I loved Brittani's girls in white and cream lace dresses, Monica's in floor-length, pink gowns, and Alyssa's in fun blue and yellow dresses. These looks are far from boring, and I love that these girls will wear their bridesmaids' dresses time and time again since weren't stuck with some unflattering, ugly thing!
Who doesn't love food, am I right?! We're big fans of unique dessert bars, drink presentations, menu options, edible favors, and even food items used in your decor. We have the best caterer and bakery around, so there's no excuse for not going all out with your menu, drinks and desserts!
I love pastel weddings as much as the next girl (looking at you, blush and gold!), but I really, really hope we see lots of bold, unexpected color combinations this year. Think: jewel tones, turquoise and red, or a bold, bright summery color palette.
Opt out of having a bridal party (or have all kids in your bridal party). Get married barefoot. Have a first look. Walk by yourself down the aisle. It's your big day, so I say do whatever floats your boat! Don't follow certain wedding traditions just because you think you have to. It's 2016... we're living in the future, which means you can do what you want!
What do you hope to see more of in 2016? I am really thrilled for this wedding season! Springtime can't come soon enough. :)
