It's not uncommon for out of state couples to ask us to plan their weddings long distance. Sometimes they even show up on their wedding day without ever seeing The Barn! And sometimes those couples just so happen to live more than 3,000 miles away in Alaska! And when that happens, we sorta freak out. Mandy and Matt traveled from Anchorage to The Barn in little ol' Dardanelle, Arkansas, and we almost couldn't believe it. They met up with some of their closest friends and family from all over the country and had the prettiest rustic chic wedding and an amazing dinner party reception. It was such an honor to plan this sweet Alaskan couple's big day!
Shingleur Photography (one of our preferred photogs!) did such a gorgeous job on this wedding! I could have included all 432 photos, but I tried to cut it down a little bit for y'all. ;) Seriously though, y'all will love these! xoxo
Mandy and Matt were married at The Barn at Twin Oaks Ranch on October 10, 2016. And it was a Monday... What better way to beat the Monday blues than with a wedding?! Their color palette was a gorgeous combination of peach, gold and blush. Their theme was rustic chic, and they had plenty of Alaskan inspired details.
Mandy's gorgeous bridal gown came from Fabulous Frocks of Anchorage. It was absolutely stunning, with a mermaid silhouette, beautiful lace details, and a sash that tied in the back. This dress was made for Mandy! Such a gorgeous bride!
Mandy's bridesmaids wore strapless lace dresses in shades of pale pink, which were from David's Bridal. The maid of honor wore a shade lighter than the other girls, and we always love when brides choose a dress for their MOH that's a little bit different! They also wore cute matching booties. The groom and his guys wore gray slacks, pale blue shirts, gold ties, and the coolest boutonnieres ever! (More about the bouts in a minute.) They also had the sweetest little twirling flower girl!
Barn Flowers are the BEST flowers, and these were just amazing! Peach, blush, and some greenery... The perfect bouquets for a rustic chic wedding! "I loved them," Mandy said. "I wanted a variety of flowers and some greenery in them as well. I had several compliments on them, and they were fresh and lovely."
Remember those fancy boutonnieres we talked about? We LOVED these. What would have been a simple, classic bout became more special with a bit of twine and a round piece of wood. Matt does a lot of woodworking, so this was such a fun detail!
Mandy and Matt chose to have a first look before their ceremony. Matt was blown away by his gorgeous bride, and we couldn't blame him! We always love being able to witness these moments between two people as they're about to begin their lives together as newlyweds! So much anticipation, excitement and pure joy. <3
Mandy and Matt's ceremony was a rustic chic dream! Their altar was draped with burlap and lace and included floral tiebacks on each side. I loved the greenery on their altar! They had logs topped with flowers at the base of their altar, as well as down their aisle. They had the prettiest guestbook table ever... A rustic ladder with mason jars full of flowers, and the cutest pink mason jar guestbook (they asked their guests to sign small wooden hearts and then drop them into the jar). Mandy and Matt DIYed some of their own decor, which is always a special touch!
Mandy and Matt's ceremony was very intimate and sweet. "I will remember my wedding day because it was a very special day for our families," Mandy said. That's what it's all about, y'all!
Mandy and Matt are both beautiful people, so their post-ceremony portraits are STUNNING. That newlywed glow! These photos are always my favorites, because couples look SO happy after saying their I do's, and they really are glowy and gorgeous. These two Alaskan lovebirds look dreamy!
Mandy and Matt's reception started with a fun party out on The Barn's lawn. There were drinks, games and even caricatures, which were the coolest wedding favors ever! Our lawn is always pretty, but my goodness, it sure looks good in the fall!
Their reception tables included several Alaskan inspired details that made it one of a kind! Their were fox tails in the florals (amazing!), framed Alaskan facts on each table, and their guests' dinner was even served on Alaskan Gold Rush mining pans!
"I loved the exclusiveness and the personal touch the staff did to make it unique for us," Mandy said. "Our favorite detail of the wedding was all the decor inside The Barn. From the AK facts to the Matt and Mandy tissue in the food plates."
Mandy and Matt cut their beautiful naked cake, shared their first dance together, and shared many unforgettable moments with their loved ones! At the end of their reception, they made their getaway (with sparklers!) and left for a Southern Caribbean cruise!
Mandy and Matt, we are so honored that you came all the way from Alaska to get married at The Barn! We absolutely loved your sweet Monday afternoon wedding, and we're so thankful we were able to plan it with you! We wish y'all the best! xoxoxoxoxoxoxo
