Whitley + Victor's Star Wars Themed Wedding

You are the droid I’m looking for...

Every once in a while, a couple comes along that asks us to do something totally different for their wedding. And we love it. We are obviously head over heels for a gorgeous, “normal” wedding, but we LOVE when we get asked to do something a little crazy! Whitley and Victor chose a Star Wars theme for their elopement, and they specifically chose R2-D2 and BB-8 as their inspiration. And it turned out AMAZING. There were lightsabers (duh), an R2-D2 suit (obviously), and a whole bunch of pretty blue and orange details! Our team managed to create a wedding that was fun and quirky, but also still totally gorgeous. We’ll always remember this one! Whitney from WDPhotography took their photos, and we love them!

In a galaxy far, far away... Whitley and Victor were married at The Barn at Twin Oaks Ranch on October 18, 2018. Their colors were orange and blue, and their theme was Star Wars! “I was the BB-8 to his R2-D2,” Whitley said. LOVE!

Whitley said her favorite thing about her entire wedding day was the theme! We agree... it was such a fun theme, and every detail was very well thought out and fit in flawlessly. “It was better than I could have ever imagined,” she said. “It was absolutely perfect.”

Whitley and Victor were our coolest couple of all time. Their outfits were SO good and fit their theme perfectly. Whitley wore a tea-length, strapless bridal gown with an orange petticoat underneath (inspired by BB-8, of course!). We very rarely see short wedding dresses, but they are so fun and perfect for a fun, lighthearted wedding! Victor wore the most epic R2-D2 suit. These two rocked their theme through every detail of their wedding, including their attire! Did we mention that Whitley even had orange streaks through her hair?! These two went all out. So dang awesome.

Whitley had some of the brightest, most fun florals we’ve ever done, and we are crazy about these! “My favorite is sunflowers so there were those, as well as orange and blue flowers,” Whitley said. “Just a big colorful mix that was gorgeous.” There were pops of silver and loads of greenery, too… so, so pretty!

Whitley said she and Victor “gave full reign to the team for the location of the ceremony on the property, the altar, and the cake.” Our team set up their ceremony off to the side of The Barn’s front doors (they were the first couple to tie the knot in this exact spot!). We used our hexagon altar with a silver glitter drape, orange and blue florals, and a whole bunch of lightsabers! Their aisle was lined with small orange and blue floral arrangements in mason jars.

FB3D7733.jpg

Whitley and Victor asked some of their closest friends and family to participate in their ceremony, which made it extra special. Their friend Alahna Martin performed a song, and another friend, Ryan Swatzel, was ordained so he could be their officiant. They also had a fun, unique unity paint ceremony. As they walked back down the aisle as newlyweds, a few of their guests held up lightsabers, which made for the coolest grand exit ever!

The Barn did an amazing job. It was absolutely better than I could ever have imagined. It was out of this world — pun intended.

Whitley and Victor had a small, intimate reception full of Star Wars inspired details! “We had many Star Wars figurines and knickknacks that we had scattered throughout,” she said. “We had a Star Wars photo booth prop set up.” They also sent their guests home with several Star Wars themed favors, including decals, stickers and temporary tattoos. They had a simple white cake with orange and blue details and a Star Wars topper, of course!

Whitley and Victor, your wedding was one to remember, and we’re so glad you chose us to plan it with you! We wish y’all the very best! xoxo

Katelyn + Richard's Glamorous Blush & Navy Elopement

It sure is feeling like winter in our neck of the woods all of a sudden, but this gorgeous August elopement has us feeling all the warmth! This wedding will always be memorable for us, because it was the day we debuted a brand new altar! There were many details to love, including the prettiest pink florals, a breathtaking bride, a gorgeous ceremony set up in front of The Barn, and so much more. One of our favorites, Tryston Hines, photographed this wedding… as always, we are swooning over her photos!

Katelyn and Richard were married at The Barn at Twin Oaks Ranch on August 18, 2018. Their colors were blush and navy, and their details were glam meets rustic. “I am a very bling person, and The Barn made something unique just for me,” Katelyn said.

THP-35.jpg

Katelyn’s florals were feminine and gorgeous. They were full of blush and ivory roses, astilbe, greenery and a few pops of navy from blue thistle and the prettiest berries. “My bouquets were beautiful,” Katelyn said. “They were exactly how I wanted.” Katelyn carried a photo of her mother on a charm on her bouquet, which she said was one of her favorite details. Her mom recently passed away, and this was such a special way to honor her on Katelyn’s big day.

Katelyn was the most stunning bride. We were head over heels in love with her timeless dress, which was from David’s Bridal, but our absolute favorite part of her bridal look was her incredible veil! It was trimmed in the most beautiful lace, and it totally made her look. We also loved her sparkly accessories.

kr2.jpg

We are SWOONING over this ring shot! What a gorgeous, unique ring this lady is so lucky to wear!

Katelyn’s bridesmaids wore long navy dresses, also from David’s Bridal, and the guys wore classic black suits. There were some seriously cute kiddos in this bridal party as well. Katelyn also included her pup, Arabella, in her wedding party… isn’t this the cutest, fanciest dog ever?! She was wedding ready in her blush outfit and navy bow! We can’t even handle this!

THP-186.jpg

Katelyn and Richard had a very sweet, intimate first look before their ceremony. These photos are just the sweetest. One of the best parts of our job is seeing how much our couples adore one another… it gets us in our feels every time!

I loved my wedding... They did an awesome job!! I highly recommend the Twin Oaks team!

Katelyn and Richard tied the knot on the lawn in front of The Barn. Our team built a custom hexagon altar just for Katelyn and Richard’s ceremony, which we then draped in a glittery gold fabric and finished with a few pink floral arrangements. Glamorous meets rustic has never been prettier! Their aisle included a few small floral arrangements in mason jars, and their guestbook table had pink florals and a touch of bling, too.

Katelyn and Richard exchanged their vows in an intimate ceremony with their closest family and friends in attendance. It was one of the most gorgeous days of the summer… the perfect day for such a sweet celebration of love!

THP-137.jpg
THP-153.jpg

They had a small reception with a cake cutting inside The Barn. Their tiny cake, from Kneading Hands Bakery, was the CUTEST. The gold, glittery “love” cake topper and pretty florals made this cake so special and sweet. It sat on top of a vintage barrel and some gold sequined fabric, which was the perfect combination of glam and rustic. We keep our elopement receptions super simple, so the rest of The Barn had a few cocktail tables with navy tablecloths and small floral arrangements. “I loved The Barn,” Katelyn said. “It was absolutely gorgeous!”

The most memorable moment of the day for Katelyn came during the reception. “I’ll always remember how my husband looked at me during the first dance,” she said. “It was unexplainable!”

Katelyn and Richard, we LOVED planning your elopement with you! We adored every gorgeous detail! Congratulations and best wishes! xoxo

Kelsi + Richard's Whimsical Pink & Gold Wedding

Today is my fifth wedding anniversary, so I wanted to share again with y’all my very favorite wedding at The Barn - my own! It’s true, I was once a Barn Bride before I became The Barn’s Blogger! If I were to get married again today, I might change a few details or colors or floral choices. But there are two things I would do the same - I would marry Richard a million times again, and I would absolutely choose The Barn as our venue! It is simply the best. <3

***

As I mentioned yesterday, this week marks one year that I've been writing this little ol' blog! To celebrate, I wanted to share with y'all my favorite Barn Wedding of all... my own! As a former Barn Bride, I can assure you that The Barn and our staff totally live up to the hype. I don't write all these nice things about The Barn because it's my job and I'm expected to... I write them because they're absolutely true!

Our photos were taken by Melissa McCrotty Photography, and I'm still convinced she's the most talented photographer Arkansas has ever seen. We're thrilled with our wedding photos, and she was so much fun to work with!

Richard and I were married at The Barn at Twin Oaks Ranch on October 12, 2013. We chose blush, gold and cream as our color palette, with plenty of glittery details. We wanted our wedding to have a romantic, whimsical feel, and we wanted it to look relaxed and not too serious. Since I live for a good DIY project, it was very important to me to do many of our wedding details ourselves, even though The Barn Team sure doesn't ask that of their couples!

Our invitations were a printable design from Etsy that I had customized to match our colors. I wrote all about that experience here

I found my dress at The White Dress Boutique. It was everything I didn't think I wanted... isn't it funny how that works out? ;) It was only the second dress I tried on, and I was sold. (Looking back, I wish I would have tried on more, because trying on wedding dresses is perhaps the most fun thing in the world for a wedding-obsessed lady like me.) It was poofy in all the right places, had little lace details all over the tulle, and I'm still obsessed with that train!

It takes a lot of people to put on a wedding dress! ;)

Our bridesmaids' dresses came from a website that I'm not even going to link to, because honestly, buying your bridesmaids' dresses online isn't the best idea. My girls' dresses all turned out great, but that isn't always the case when ordering online! I loved their dresses so much, but I'll admit that it was a little bit risky, because the company we ordered from doesn't have the best reviews. I chose a simple, elegant color that I thought would look good on everyone, and then I told them to choose any style, as long as it was floor-length and chiffon. They looked so beautiful, and I loved how all the dresses looked together!

Richard and his groomsmen wore gray suits and blush ties from Formal Affairs. They looked fantastic! Totally swooning over my groom. ;) I loved how the bridesmaids' champagne dresses looked with the groomsmen's gray suits. Classic, elegant, and so. darn. pretty!

I made the flower girls' pink tutus, and it was such a fun, easy project. They also wore gold glittery ribbon belts and the prettiest astilbe flower crowns!

Our flowers were unreal. Barn flowers are the best flowers! People still talk about our wedding flowers, and I still find myself obsessing over them, too. They were probably my favorite detail from our wedding! I chose garden roses in shades of pink, ranunculus, dahliahs (they were AMAZING), spray roses, pink and white hydrangeas, astilbe and dusty miller for the bouquets and floral arrangements. The bouquets were wrapped with sequined gold ribbon!

Richard wore a pink ranunculus boutonniere, and the groomsmen wore white ones. The mothers' and grandmothers' corsages consisted of pink spray roses, astilbe and dusty miller.

Our first first look took place on top of Mount Nebo, in the spot where we got engaged, a few weeks before our wedding. We decided to have bridal photos taken together prior to our wedding day so we could have plenty of photos in our wedding attire in different locations. It was also a good way to get our nerves out! So our "first" look at The Barn was actually our second look. When we finally saw each other, we talked about... the weather. We've been an old married couple since day one! We also got a bunch of gorgeous, romantic photos together that we'll treasure forever!

The sweetest face ever. :)

Our ceremony decor was so perfect! Our aisle was lined with logs and tons of floral arrangements that matched our bouquet, as well as pink flower petals. Our lace altar was so dreamy! The chandelier was the perfect detail. Our guestbook table was filled with pink and gold pretties. The guestbook itself was a book that I made of our engagement photos. We also had our guests write a wish or word of advice for us on a tag and hang it on a tree, which we watered during our ceremony. I made a couple of chalkboard signs for the ceremony, and Richard painted my bike pink and gold! We put a basket on it, filled it with flowers, and it was my favorite ceremony detail.

Our ceremony was very simple and full of love. I thought I'd be super nervous/sick when I walked down the aisle, but I was surprisingly 100% calm. It was the most amazing feeling to see the faces of our closest friends and family as I walked down the aisle toward my love. We said nontraditional vows, and we didn't cry! Our officiant, Richard's uncle, read a few readings that were special to us, and then we watered our unity tree together. And then it was official... we were husband and wife!

By the way, my husband hand-lettered these beautiful signs! Another DIY detail that I loved.

After we were pronounced husband and wife, we enjoyed a few private moments together and then went off to hug our families, take a bunch of photos and head to The Barn for the end of our cocktail hour.

Our reception decor was full of blush, gold, glitter and whimsical details! I love The Barn all dressed up in this style! Our tables were covered with white tablecloths, glittery gold runners, gold vases and bottles, beautiful pink and white floral arrangements, candles, and dinosaurs. Remember when I said I wanted our decor to be relaxed and not too serious? That's where the dinosaurs came in. They were painted and glittered and totally adorable... they were also a little bit ridiculous, but in the best way! There are two of them sitting on our nightstands at home, with little pink flowers stuck in their backs, and they always make me smile. Our polka dotted place settings were another detail I adored. We also had a delicious barbecue dinner from Fat Daddy's, and I only got baked beans on my dress once. ;)

These tassels hanging over the lawn are another detail I'm still crazy about!

For our favors, we asked our families to bake lots and lots of delicious pie. We printed out a pie box template, made a whole bunch of them, and packaged individual pie slices. We also bought some wooden forks on Etsy, glittered the handles, and tied them to the boxes with twine and a little tag that told each flavor. In my opinion, it was kind of the best favor ever. Who doesn't love pie?!

We spent the rest of our reception doing all the wedding things, like cutting our cake, a bouquet and garter toss, playing lawn games, riding the pink and gold bike (best wedding entertainment ever) and watching our loved ones tear up the dance floor.

kr26.jpg

After our sparkler exit, we ended up hanging out for a while longer, sitting outside underneath the stars with our closest friends and family. Then we went home, slept it off, ate cake for breakfast, and left for our honeymoon! We road tripped to Colorado, one of our favorite places to visit together. We didn’t make any plans or book any hotels; we just spontaneously road tripped all over the mountains, staying in a different town every night . We got snowed in once, ate so much great food, and spent a few days nerding out over all our favorite mountain views! It was romantic, frigid cold and the perfect way to begin our lives together as husband and wife!

My favorite thing about getting married at The Barn was that I didn’t have to lift a finger. (I chose to lift a finger, but it wasn’t because they asked me to!) On my wedding day, I slept in, had a great time with my bridesmaids, showed up at The Barn with my hair and makeup done, put on a fancy dress, and had a bunch of photos taken. Then I married my best friend (!!!), ate a delicious dinner, and had the best time hanging out with my favorite people on the planet! I ended the night sitting at a table under the stars with my closest family and friends, sipping champagne and watching shooting stars (magical, seriously). There was no set-up, no tear-down and no stress whatsoever. The planning meetings were truly fun, and the team took ideas for themes/flowers/décor from my wedding Pinterest board and put them all together to create the most dreamy, beautiful wedding everrrrrr. I wouldn’t change anything about what this fabulous team did for Richard and I on our big day! It was the best day of my life, and it wouldn’t have been as wonderful without these ladies who possess immeasurable amounts of talent and work so hard to make couples’ dreams come true! <3 <3 <3

Maybe it’s the pregnancy hormones (Baby Flinn is due in just a few weeks, on our second anniversary!), but looking through these photos gave me allllll the feels. I hope you loved our wedding 10% as much as we did! Because even that would be a lot. ;)

xoxo,
Kelsi

Beth + Christian's Romantic Purple Wedding

I’m so excited to start sharing our fall 2018 weddings with y’all! This was the first one, and it was romantic, dreamy and perfect. It rained on Beth and Christian’s wedding day, so their ceremony had to be moved indoors, and honestly… that made it more magical and gorgeous than ever! They had a sweet, intimate ceremony underneath the twinkling chandeliers inside The Barn, and it was the most romantic thing we could have imagined. We adore these photos by Kayleigh Ross Photography, and we hope y’all love this wedding as much as we did!

Beth and Christian were married at The Barn at Twin Oaks Ranch on September 23, 2018. Their color palette was the prettiest combination of purple, dusty greens, gray and silver. Their details were beautiful, romantic, elegant and timeless. There were a few rustic touches, too, and they all created the most magical wedding.

Beth’s bouquets and floral arrangements were stunning! Carnations, mums, the most out-of-this-world dahlias, roses, succulents and greenery made the prettiest purple bouquets ever!

The sweetest purple flower crowns for two adorable flower girls!

We were so in love with Beth’s bridal gown from Low’s Bridal. The silhouette was gorgeous on her, and the stunning detail on this dress was insane. We loved the romantic hairstyle she chose and the sixpence she wore on her sparkly Kate Spade sneakers! She was such a joyful, glowy bride!

Beth’s maid of honor wore a beautiful, romantic dress in the prettiest shade of purple from Lulus. Christian looked so handsome in a classic black suit, and his best man wore navy and a purple tie. We really love tiny bridal parties, and this one was just pretty.

42631147_428286837698541_2633522453820735488_o.jpg

Beth’s favorite detail of the day was their amazing custom altar, which included white and gray drapes and tons of gorgeous purple florals. “Lesleigh did an AMAZING job turning my Pinterest idea into reality,” she said. “It couldn’t have been more perfect if she tried.”

She and Christian had planned to exchange their vows outside, but rainy weather pushed their ceremony indoors. And it truly couldn’t have been more beautiful or romantic! The rain let up long enough for them to have a few photos together outside though, and they are some of my favorite photos of this day!

My favorite part about getting married at The Barn is how accommodating they are to whatever you want. It was raining that day so the ceremony was moved inside. Once everything was almost over, I requested that the altar be moved outside to have pictures taken with it. Without any questions asked, it was moved outside for me which was no easy feat.

Sigh. So, so pretty out here, even on a dreary day!

Our team moved their beautiful altar back inside The Barn and placed it in the middle of the dance floor, with one of our gorgeous chandeliers lowered so it would hang in the middle of the altar.

“When I walked around the corner of The Barn and saw the inside for the first time with the decorations, I remember being in awe at how stunning everything turned out,” Beth said. “I was blown away at how gorgeous it looked and that it was MY wedding that looked this beautiful. Then of course I see my husband who was tearing up as he saw me for the first time that day. It was a moment that I’ll never forget.”

Beth and Christian’s ceremony was intimate and sweet. They were surrounded by their family and closest friends. And it was seriously the most romantic, dreamiest ceremony ever!

Beth and Christian had an adorable naked cake (with a delicious chocolate drizzle), topped with pretty purple flowers. Their cake table was elegant and a little bit rustic, with a purple tablecloth and a rustic wood door backdrop. They brought custom champagne glasses and an adorable personalized cake server set. We loved those little details!

The newlyweds haven’t gone on their honeymoon just yet, but they plan to go to St. Thomas in December!

I asked Beth to write us a review based on her experience, and these are the sweet words she said. “Amazing job. Anything I wanted or requested was taken care of. Best experience ever and would recommend to anyone thinking of eloping or having a wedding here period.”

Beth and Christian, your wedding day was so dreamy and perfect! We are so glad we got to plan it with you! We wish y’all the best, and have a great time in St. Thomas! xoxo

Reception Tables In Every Style

The best thing about our receptions: the reception tables. Our team uses gorgeous linens, dinnerware, floral arrangements, and about a million different decor items to create stunning tablescapes. They can pull off any style or theme and make it look incredible. You'd think that since our venue is a rustic barn, we'd only be able to pull off rustic weddings and receptions, but that is so not the case! From elegant to glam, rustic, and bohemian, as well as a little bit of everything in between, our team creates masterpiece receptions weekend after weekend. They are all drastically different, and each one is just as stunning as the one before! Here are just a handful of my favorite reception tables from some of our past weddings!
